RSS Feed? What’s that!? Subscribe? Why?

RSS? (Real Simple Syndication)…Like That Means Anything To Me!?

  • What Is It? Why Should I Care? Who Cares?
  • A Feed? Feedreader? The Big Orange Button?
  • I’m a Computer-Dummy, and I could care less!
  • But, WAIT! Don’t You want to Stay Posted? Keep Updated? Stay “In The Know”!?

My Goal Today Is:

  • To help make your life easier!
  • To help save you time!
  • To reduce your computer-screen tunnel-vision, headaches, and possible carpel tunnel ;-)
  • To keep you in touch with all your favorite websites and blogs (like this one) by placing all your subscriptions into one little-handy RSS feedreader (a term, you will soon understand)!

Cheers and enjoy the flick :-D

There are two types of Internet users, those that use RSS and those that don’t. This video is for the people who could save time using RSS, but don’t know where to start.

So, Where Do I Get a Free RSS Reader?

  • My Yahoo RSS Reader (I use this one). Very easy. Usually the first choice when I click on anyone’s Orange Button…nice layout, and because I love to comment and join the discussion I’m glad it brings me right to the blogpost for all the juicy details.
  • Google Reader I have this too. But, rarely use it…its very slow to load, even the scrolling of posts is slow. Also, I have to have another window opened which just frustrates me. Yet, I just saw that Leigh points out a Firefox extension for Gmail accounts that puts the RSS reader alongside. This would help greatly…I’ll give it a whirl.
  • Bloglines Many, many people use this one. Honestly, most of my subscribers have this one…and, I’m happy to say, they convert from feedreaders to blog-readers very nicely too. Meaning, Bloglines subscribers actually read my feed AND come on the blog to read more, and stay awhile to talk, visit, click-around and learn. Love ya’guys and gals…so if you have something good to say about your reader (and this site ;-) ) please comment below.
