Having said that, as complex as some techies make it out to be: search engine optimization and marketing techniques is not very hard…and, it should be the primarily application when designing and publishing your website’s content.
In addition to being an expert in your niche market, I believe it is equally important that you become proficient in applying search engine optimization techniques as well.
In other words…you should be thinking always about your “words” first.
More specifically, you need to know your “keywords” and “keyword phrases” (particularly 4-word combinations).
Think about it…when you logon to the net, where’s the first place you go to find more information on products to buy, services to use, or educational resources?
The search engines; such as Goggle, Yahoo, MSN, etc.
Therefore, to drive traffic to your site, you need to have your every single webpage of your website and/or blog, keyword specific and optimized for the search engines = search engine optimization.
Search engine marketing is utilizing search engine optimization prinicples on all your online marketing pieces, such as your articles, press releases and blog posts.
Bascially everything you write and put-out on the world wide web is a piece of internet marketing material.
The incredible thing about SEO and SEM techniques is that its implementation is completely free (the reason I love it…and many other frugal online marketers or new business owners).
Basically, once you get the formulas down-pack, you apply them to everything you do.
All the hype of hiring SEO specialists and experts to optimize your website, started when online marketers who were succeeding financially found out that one’s viability on the world wide web does not rely on the webdesign…but the web content.
But, now people are rising to the occassion by learning search engine optimization techniques themselves and designing their websites accordingly. Rather than designing a “pretty” site, they’re desiging an optimized, keyword-rich, online resource center.
Now, my dear fellow online women entrepreneurs and newbies, remember: I just ventured on the fabulous world wide web on February 14, 2005.
I evolved from a novice who truly didn’t understand the difference between the webhost, website, and domain name to a webdesigning, online publisher who understands and applies simple search engine optimization and marketing techniques who was able to achieve:
- Many Top 10 search engine keywords and phrases,
- Steady increase in ezine subscribers,
- Develop many wonderful high-ranked venture partners, and
- My biggest achievement: receiving Goggle PageRank 2-3 on many pages of my main website, and ALL four of my blogs (even though two I only posted less than 6 times) after only 10 weeks since my online launch.
Remember: I was offline for 7-weeks due to my health too.
I have a healthy PageRank 2-3 on my webpages. While not every single page received a PR (PageRank), I was happy to see those that did, Goggle jumped right over PR1 directly to PR2 or 3 (with the majority of 3’s).
So, what’s a PageRank?
PageRank is the only numerical rating system on the world wide web that Goggle developed with a secret highly-intense equation based on a page popularity.
Page popularity is determined (1) by the position of your webpage accordingly to your keyword phrases and (2) the link relevancy based on your inbound and outbound links (AKA link exchanges and quality of reciprocal links).
Pretty complex to understand…yes.
Fortunately, its application is not complex at all.
If I can do it, my dears…anyone can!
So, today I offered an extremely brief introduction to search engine optimization and marketing.
As all this technical-talk is giving me a headache (and we know how sensitive my neurons are these days), so I do not plan to give the history or explanation for everything all the time.
However, I plan to offer you tips and tools to achieve online success as quickly and easily as possible.
While I have a looonnnggg way to go from becoming an expert…I’m proud to see that my hard work and efforts are paying off nicely.
No doubt: it takes time, understanding and patience. But, with persistence you will succeed!
I love empowering women entrpreneurs to achieve their goals.
One way to succeed as a business woman and owner is to always maximize your return from each of your marketing efforts. And applying search engine optimization and marketing techniques to all your webpages is the only way to achieve success online.
I’ll teach you how in my following posts. Til then…stay empowered!
