Top Internet Tools Women Entrepreneurs can use for their home based businesses

Phew! Another un-published post saved for a raining day…I’ve been in doctors’ appointments Mon-Wed…I’m wiped. Trying to get back online; but physically not well enough…

Finally I’m going to share the Top Internet Tools that We Use here at EmpowerWomenNow.com -

As a long over-due to my Essential Toolbox list I shared at Char’s Essential Keystrokes.

While this category has been listed for the past couple of weeks months…I haven’t detailed the reason why we used them.

Top Tools W.E. Use

  • Home Based Working Moms #1 most profiled organization online.
    • This is my #1 choice out of all the women entrepreneur and/or mompreneur online organization which I promote that I believe you should join. There’s an incredible welcome package, great exposure both online and offline via the monthly postal-mailed newsletter. The forums are extremely active, a great dynamic listserve. The professionalism of all these home-based working moms is top-notch.

  • Broadband phone service: Lingo.
    • We’ve used Lingo at our home for a few years now, and its stellar! Free long-distance calls 24-7 to all continental United States, all provinces in Canada and 12 European countries. The rates for other foreign countries are great as well. What’s *way* cool; is that we make our system “mobile” by bringing our broadband lingo box and external hard-drive whenever we take long travels. We even call for free on the road and get all our voice messages via emailbox.
  • Skype
    • Hands-down a must-have internet-based service to make free international calls! Phone calls, internet to internet calls, text-chat, and webcam capabilities.
  • Accept Payments Online with PayPal. Fast, Easy & Secure!
    • The primary way I get paid via most of my affiliate programs. I invoice our services to our clients, and conveniently have a debit card that earns money-back points to be used as a credit card online and offline; this is perfect bookkeeping for me. Otherwise, I request actual checks from those who do not use paypal.

  • Stamps.com
    • Major time saver! Very professional-looking postal mail. One of my husband’s clients includes a ton of drop-shipping and the ability to print professional pre-paid labels, envelopes with bar codes, and free tracking of all mail sent. We can email pre-paid labels to our clients so they can mail to us at our cost. All sizes, all mail options from media mail, from first-class to priority shipping and more can be done very economically right from your home-based business and you don’t look like a home-based business! Also, priority pick-up can be synchronized on the internet for your personal mail carrier to pick up as they deliver your mail - just like a corporate office. Totally cool! And, with gas prices these days, the print ink is much cheaper…and not waiting in line for one single stamp is time-efficient!

  • Tech Wise Guy
    • Thanks to Todd’s (The “Tech Wise Guy”’s) wife, Jenny “The Tea Party Girl”, for making a comment below suggesting only one particular “find” on his blog about inexpensive, remote back-up plans. Once I got to his site, I couldn’t think of a better way to thank them both but share some link-love! And, feature his site as a Top Tool, because Todd offers necessary “understandable” reviews for our home-based businesses! His tagline states that he will be “Equipping small business to utilize computers and the Internet without knowing tech-speak”.
    • Now, I’ve seen this claim numerous times before, but in my quick perusal; I the proud-non-tech-chick-that-I-am…understood every word I read! Rest assured, I’m be watching a close-eye to make sure he speaks in “our language”, Okay!?
    • Tip for Todd: Add FeedBlitz email RSS Subscription option to your blog. While I signed up for your feed; a *very tiny* few I’d like to get full-feeds in email form–and you would’ve made my cut ;-) More importantly, for non-technical people; look at my stats: I have 220 email RSS subscribers and 50 RSS Feed Subscribers. I suspect, you’d cater to “email readers” more too!

I’d love to learn your Top Internet Tools, please share your recommendations and comments below! Help me expand our list especially if it is cost-effective and time-efficient! Thank you!

Congrats again for all your partners and success!

Great question: had to ask my techno-partner: hubby.

We pay the $16.95/mon, but there’s a $9.95/mon plan which you don’t get ‘import-export’ feature for addresses. We have a client who’s an amazon.com reseller, so to import full addresses with customized labels, shipping sheets, etc. is very time-efficient and cost-effective.

Woo hoo! I just recreated my first ‘advertiser-monthly-subscription’ option, and just placed that in on my Advertiser’s page to make it an easy-click-through sponsorship.

Thanks so much for checking my links! I updated them both in this post & in my column…phew! Now, please check HBWM.com and come and join us ;-)

Sweet find! Thanks. I’ll check it out right now and see about putting it on my list…Wooooo Horsey! I just thought of a better alternative! Check out my post now! Thanks for commenting ;-)

Also, you and Todd should definitely list your blogs in our Link-exchange Directory here When I can, I’m *totally* a Tea Party-Girl :-D

  9. Thanks for the link-love. It is good to hear that my content is understandable to non-tech-chick as that is the goal of my blog.

Your tip about full text RSS feeds has me re-thinking. “Traditional” thinking lead me to use partial RSS feeds, but traditional thinking often is not correct for the current Internet. Such can be the danger of being a long-term technical person.

  10. Ponn, thanks so much for connecting with us! We will link in the directory. I like to think my Tech Wise Guy is understandable for us lay-people, but it’s great to hear it from someone else.

P.S. We educate our three children at home, too, but not with medical challenges! Glad to hear you’re on the mend from your latest hurdle…
