How to put images on your WordPress blog for free.

Yes, pictures speak louder than words…and the lack of images on my blog has always been my greatest criticism.

But, viola! I got my system down.

I’m sure there’s an easier way to do things, but either the time it takes to learn it is simply takes too much time, OR the time it takes me to “search” for the “perfect” picture to express my thoughts takes too much time…meaning, offer me too many options and I’m lost!

So, this is the way I finally got things to work! camera chick

1. Logged onto Flickr.com , thanks to Kelly.

2. I love the cartoon images, I just used for my virtual presentation for tomorrow. So, I simply ‘Save as Picture’ .TIFF (Tag Image File Format).

3. Upload my image to Flickr.com in a public-account for others to view & use. [I just love sharing. And, images like the ‘camera chick’ of this post is too cute to save for myself].

4. I right-click on the image for “Send image” so I can get the URL from my email. Couldn’t find a direct URL on my own…

5. Use the URL to put into WordPress image option on my toolbar within each post.

Sound complicated?

Well, I’ve always been the kindof gal, to take the longer route, but I always get there safely and on-time. But, if someone shows me another easier and direct route, I’m always willing to try. Unfortunately, I’m not a technical-whiz (nor the best driver when it comes to directions)…so I need “exact” directions. Phew! Thanks to GPS-systems and Tom-Toms now for driving!

I tried to follow Kelly’s extremely simple instructions:

  1. Search for the type of photo/image you want
  2. Select and drag into your post and it’s done!

But, I could not get #2 down pat. Kelly or others, any tips?

Thanks Tracy so much for your photobucket.com tip here. I logged on…but could not figure how to get the URL. Not, in a timely fashion anyways…

  1. When you’re in your wordpress post, open a new window for Flickr, hightlight the photo/select with the click of your mouse and drag image directly into your wordpress post.
