How I Earned $5381.77 in 1 Month of Blogging!
This is a guest post written by Amanda Harris of the Pajama Mommy Community
Now I wrote a post previously on this website about how I earned various amounts which you can always reference. However, everyone month I’ve been making a little more. I did a great jump and I hope November will prove even more prosperous for me. However I am to tell you some of how I did it.
I will be writing an E-Book on how I earn my income online so please check back for that!
Here is the breakdown:
ReviewMe: $220
Text Link Ads - $665.32
Text Link Brokers - $385
PayPerPost - $295
Direct Advertising & Coaching- $3231
Smorty - $88.20
Sponsored Reviews - $497.25
Total: $5,381.77
ReviewMe - I don’t actively use them, my site is available for people who are advertisers in review me. So anytime I have anything purchased it means people were looking at my category.
I have had to alter my prices because of the fact that people are underpricing their websites. When you add your site into a new paid posting area that offers a list of all the people accepting sponsored posts make sure you do your research. What is your site offering? Do you have a good description? Are you over priced? Are they under priced? Granted the cheaper you go the more you will get, but do you want to get get properly paid for your time? Some places are 4 star blogs and they sell their ads for $65 why because at is $32 and if 10 people by thats $320 but if 20 people buy they stand to make $3200 so make sure you are pricing for what you are hoping to sell but don’t under price yourself.
Text Link Ads - This is one of my big earners as you can see. I would stand to earn more money if I didn’t mess up my account. However I sold out several times this month and my links sell at $180 a pop. I sell 10 links and 6 RSS I have yet to sell any RSS links but I still offering it incase people want to buy!
Now Jenny one of my friends knows first hand on how I optimize TLA. After I optimized her she sold 3 more. Granted this may not work for everyone but it has worked for a bunch of people. My friend Rachel, after I set up her TLA account and helped her with it is selling more ads on her site. I wrote an entire post on how to optimize your TLA on Pajama Mommy. Please reference that post for tips and tricks.
Text Link Brokers - They are under priced links and you have to sell a lot of links to make anything. But they aren’t bad, their customer service is great.
When you sign up to sell their links you are getting 50% of the wholesale price so make sure you find out exactly how much your cut will be. I found out the hard way and I had to email several times to get everything fixed. However, I am now making my proper amount. So once you find out how much your cut will be you should be able to price your links accordingly.
PayPerPost - I don’t use them often. I use this company solely to pay my virtual assistant for all her work. This month after I actually received payouts I didn’t make too much. However, its good to have it listed I’ve had 4 people purchase direct from me which made me a total of over the months $760 not too shabby?
Again with companies like these you have to do your research. For listing your site don’t under charge yourself. Jenny now has page rank and she is still selling her ads at $10 a pop she should raise her ads to at least $65 but with her daily visitors, page rank, technorati etc. She could charge at least $160. You need to make sure your sponsored reviews, payperpost, reviewme etc. Are all along the same lines of pricing. Why should people pay $200 on one if you’re only charging $25 on the other?
Direct Advertising - I sold a bunch of direct advertising and did a lot with coaching this month. If you want to know more about how to properly set up your advertising page you can check out my post on 9 Things You Need On Your Advertising Page
Smorty- I don’t use them often. I actually don’t ever use them. I allow my VA to use them for various posts if she needs money by the end of the week. However, they are great because they pay out within a week of the approved post.
Smorty is a new company they have their own Smorty score, my dropped quite a bit since I am not longer a PR 6 website because of getting slipped on the wrist by Google. However they have a “special” smorty score as I mentioned which allows you to get certain posts but I had several posts rejected since when they finally got around to approving them I wasn’t a PR 6 any more. So really page rank does matter they just don’t let you see it.
Sponsored Reviews - is one of my favorite places to earn money online. I like the way they have their entire system set up. Their improvements are always great.
Remember you must price yourself accordingly. They offer a great suggestion tool which tells you, your approximate worth. My blog is currently a 4 star blog. I’m almost to a 5 star blog. You must make sure you have a great description of your blog and check out your pricing. Again don’t price yourself ridiculously high or low. Check out your competition and figure it out from there. Plus they only take out 35% so I like them even more

Interesting that you made so much from TLA, have you found yourself losing anything due to Googles penalties for paid links?
