Want 500 New RSS Subscribers Each Month? Join Our Four-Week Challenge!

Big orange feed icon

Wow! By applying the very simple and strict 5-steps below in 4-weeks times, Steven was able to go
“from 189 subscribers to 638 (peak) subscribers on May 23. It goes up and down but it is stable at about 600 just now.”

He set a modest incredible goal “to raise my subscriber numbers by 100 per week”

And, has challenged us to do the same…I just took his steps one-step further!

Join our challenge, crediting Steven here, and me here, edit the next 5 6-steps with your personal information, follow my 4-week plan so we learn together…or do it in another order and share your research. And, let’s report in one-months’ time, Okay!? Here’s hopin’….

1. Quality Content
Work on this one baby ;-)

You *must * have your own unique voice, tone, and authority or expert knowledge in something that shows your target market you’re the one to listen/read day in and day out!

Then, test and track! Watch your individual posts, see which ones *really* hit home…where you get the most comments/trackbacks…what do your readers relate most too? Like about you? Appreciate most in your posts?

2. Traffic - Taking it to the next level. I want to grow my “friends/networks” and encourage you to do the same!

So, these are the 6 top social bookmarking/network sites Steve and his colleagues recommend. I’ve listed my ‘profile’ pages, so you can join my ‘friends/networks’–I want you to do the same, and comment/trackback below so I can find you and be-friend you in return!

My Oh-so creative nickname everywhere is: ponnsabra

  • Netscape - Be My Friend! [Surprised I have 2 friends already: Week 2.]

Need a Place to Start? Check out the Popular Finds at each Top Network Sites here at PopURLs.com!

We must heed the temptations…and follow Steven’s easy yet strict guidelines.
As he says “A little credibility is better than no credibility.”

Sign up with all the sites mentioned above and start socialising in them. Take 1 week to build up your friends and submit quality articles to all of them. You can have a stumbleupon toolbar which makes it easy to stumble articles. You can also use the social bookmark icons on nearly all blog posts; again this makes it easy to submit articles to the sites. At this point do not submit any of your own articles unless you have been using the sites for a while.

It is very important to build up your friends lists and submit articles. Make a point of submitting for an hour every day for 1 week (believe me it well be well worth your time after the week).

As you continue to build up your friend lists on these sites, continue to write your articles and post them as usual and resist the temptation to submit your articles to any of these sites.

What you are doing is building credibility. Can you really do this in 1 week?

3. Great Headlines

Remember, test, and track! You never know what works til you try!

4. Enlist Friends

Undoubtedly, I learned how to build a network via friends...and as friends, we’re helping one another.

If you want to barter my attention for your posts in exchange for mine, contact, or comment below. The whole idea is to keep helping your friends, right?!

Join Heather’s challenge too. She adds her personal favorite social networking sites, and her personal twists here.

5. SEO - Search Engine Optimization

7-15 keywords: Steven, don’t you mean use your keyword 7-15 times? ;-)

Never forget this some quality SEO!

6. Subscribe To My RSS Feed Now!

Okay, now I listed my challenge…I love challenges, because it keeps me accountable to another/others. Thanks Steven!

If you want to join me, comment/trackback below, and let’s start grow our RSS feed subscribers 100/week one friend at a time!

  7. Great initiative Ponn as people very rarely work on their networking on the various Social news and bookmarking sites as I wrote about on my recent Digg article (which was sadly buried) but has been a source of steady traffic from Stumbleupon for weeks.

My Stumbleupon article was buried on Stumbleupon, but was fairly popular on Digg and didn’t get buried.

Hmm my network links - I will reciprocate where I can with everyone, but I am almost maxed out on Stumbleupon - I need to start deleting people who are not friendly.

This is WAY cool, I agree!

    - All my networks have multiplied in really cool friends,

    - My traffic more than doubled yesterday (my goal is to maintain…not just accept the ’spike’…I want the ’spike’ to be my new minimum–fresh, unique data here it comes ;-)

    - Subscriptions (our main purpose) increased,

    - Comments/Trackbacks were the most I ever woke up too (and very complementary *blush*)

  27. It is actually 200 friends you can add, you can have an unlimited number of friends who add you.

I am bouncing on the 200 friends limit all the time and just delete those who

    1. haven’t reciprocated
    2. are interested in different things
    3. Only stumble their own sites or write reviews about their own sites

I am selective about what I Digg and Stumble, it has to be useful and preferably unique information.

  28. thanks for responding!

SO glad you decided to join us! You have some great stumbles, and I related to your ’scratch-my-back-and-you-scratch-mine’ theory that you live by…I knew this challenge would be right up your alley :-D
    Enjoy our budding communities!

Take your time…its quite an undertaking…

  31. Wendy at eMoms, publicly shared all her usernames here and people are sharing their usernames who are interesting in ‘connecting/networking’.

*Please* do *not* spam these people! Politely be-friend, or ask kindly…better yet, stumble and/or bookmark their sites (of course if you like them) and follow Networking Netiquette! If you don’t know them, ask for an introduction.

P.S. Again, we were focusing on 4 of Steven’s Top 6 recommended sites, for all my listings, I placed them here.

BTW (by the way), have I said I wuv’ y’all, lately!?

[…]

  33. How have your RSS subscriber stats been doing out of curiosity?

  34. Great questions Sully! I increased by 5…but, I just changed my RSS icon to a much bigger with a color that meshes better with my theme, so here’s hopin’
I’m not the least disappointed though…I was able to get tons of offline work done, not posting for 5 days was not my intention, BUT, I’ve seen to increase my traffic every day! Affiliate income is increasing–sweet ;-)

And, most importantly–my network of “quality” friends is growing dramatically each day, so in time, I have no doubts I’ll increase my RSS numbers.

I got some big-hitters, A-list bloggers, and potential advertisers approaching me every single day since this challenge began…so I’m laying the foundation nicely.

And, you and your #s? Experience?

  35. Hi Ponn

I see your challenge is going well. what I would do is show what your subscriber numbers are and people can see how your challenege is getting on. A lot of people are jumping on this one and I will metion it in my Saturday roundup if that’s okay.

    Good luck

  36. Steven
Thanks for stopping in! As recommended, my RSS feed subscriber numbers clickets are up. I’m trying different things with the RSS icon button size and colors, trying to better match my theme. But, I’ll stick some ‘orange’ back up til I figure another way to change colors.

And, by all means please help spread the news…I’m trying hard on my end :-D
