Down Time is Clean Up Time for Your Online Business Success.
Your patience is much appreciated!
Tomorrow, Sunday April 15, 2007, there will be some down time here at EmpowerWomenNow.com Thirdsphere will be moving my account to another server so I can implement some must needed additions to our ever-growing international women entrepreneurs’ online resource center.
Namely our much desired WordPress Link Directory byAlec of eBranding.
Additionally…the much awaiting EmpowerWomenNow.com + PRWeb.com partnership will finally unveil our special offer late next week! I promise you it will knock your socks off!
After much deliberation…we finally agreed on all the details on Thursday, but due to my server move, will not be able to handle any big marketing campaigns for a few days…so we can settle in nicely to our new move.
So, with tomorrow being Sunday, and although it is notoriously our most busy day here at EmpowerWomenNow.com, I propose: Down Time is Clean Up Time!
Spring Cleaning for all the loose-ends that support your Online Business growth.
Here’s some quick ideas:
- Clean out your emailboxes…urgh! I, so, do not like doing this; that I totally let it collect to astronomical numbers. My emailboxes are such an ugly scene!
- Clean out your desktop, folders, and organize the most used folders, documents, etc. in priority order.
- Clean out, update your “Favorites”. Delete or create appropriate folders. Aww…just do it: if you haven’t seen the website in over a year, or worse: don’t remember what that website is anymore: Delete it forever! Don’t open and “see” if you need it in the future. You can always run a ’search’ in the future if you ever really need that topic again.
- Clean your desktop! Phew, I just did this earlier this week…I had so many WordPad notes for “next blogpost”, “sales letter”, the titles were so generic that I had “next blogpost2, 3…” and these were blogposts already live. In the recycle bin they went!
- Add and Remove programs. Wow–what I relief I had when I freed some space.
- Clean out your DVDs, CDs…oh, and if you have floppy discs hanging around at your desk- do it girl! Drop them in the bin: throw it away. I had so many CDs of family pictures, on my harddrive, on our backup harddrive, and some online…we’re covered. Throw away!
- Clean out your briefcase, diaper-bag-alla-workbag/purse. Because we homeschool which is mostly out-of-home-schooling, each of my girls and I have a knapsack filled with “things to do” for in the car, waiting in lines, whenever. We notoriously clean theirs out each week for our weekly library-day…then this week my eldest says “But, Mama…your bag gets bigger every week. And, Your Back is Bad!” When I clean-out, I always say I need ‘this’ or ‘that’, I’m proud that I threw away 3-4 old receipts and I’m clean. Urgh! Then, in my travels I find that all I really need is a pad and pen. As I go about my daily routines, I write my best articles, my clients best work etc. So, take it from me–let’s get down to a knapsack light enough for a 3 year-old. My littlest one can manage about 3-4 paperback books–that’s it!
- Clean your desk. Dare to clear it off of anything but your PC.
Ha ha…now, that’s a knee-slapper, huh? Well, if we don’t envision such clean, clear beauty we’ll never achieve anything close to it…or actually achieve it–period, right? - Clean up past unfinished To-Do Lists, such as calling A, B or C, sending a sympathy card to X, sending thank you notes for Y & Z. These are the ‘away-from-the-PC’ ‘To Do’s” that W.E. (women entrepreneurs) always say I’d love to do, or I should do more often…just do it. Hold on…I just remember a couple to put on my list.
- Clean Your Mind. Last but not least–clean and clear your mind. This is a weekly rountine (with daily updates) of my business journaling. I write freely! Ideas such as: what do Ii want, envision, like, and don’t like, what I want to achieve, how, how often, who should I contact, stay in contact, or disconnect with. This is more the creative business journaling, dreaming, envisioning exercise. Once I feel empowered and ready to go on…then, I apply the business management side of my brain and answer questions, such as: who, what, when, how, and how much, set goals, timeframes, etc.
Now, this should definitely keep us busy at least for tomorrow during our Down Time. But, a practice W.E. (women entrepreneurs) should schedule or periodically do and do often.
Let’s review Monday to see what we’ve accomplished, K?
Any other ideas that pop in your head…please share. I’m brainstorming at the top of my head, just by looking at my desk and desktop in front of me.
Happy Spring Cleaning For Your Online Business Success Sunday!
Here are some things from my #9-Clean Up your unfinished To Do List (for me and to remind you):
- Learn more about our Google Analytics stats. Via these tutorials that Wendy lists them all in one nice spot.
- Get in on the Party! Wendy has weekly and daily surprises. The grand prize instructions can only be found via RSS feed.
- Learn how to drive traffic to our blogs via YouTube videos. Now, I’m not the kind of gal that like sot get in front of cameras, but Easton shares why I (W.E.–women entrepreneurs) should reconsider.
- How can You Get More Involved at EmpowerWomenNow.com? David is involving his community in this interesting fashion…if you’re a designer please submit articles as guest posts to his excellent blog! I have an alternative to guest bloggers in mind…but curious how You want to contribute to our community? My alternative is an “empowering women entrepreneur” special that will run regularly that I decided based on interest from inquiries and comments shared so far. But, what are your thoughts…please think it through and comment whenever you have access to this post. Or email anytime to ponn<at>empowerwomennow<dot>com.
- Register to Social Network sites like Twitter, MySpace, Squidoo & LinkedIn…in that order. Remember Janet’s 2-cents comment making a lasting impression on me, but I didn’t fit into my schedule yet? Well, her post today is forcing me to re-prioritize! As we’ll be better to attract wealthy Americans needed our services and products!
Okay…see you soon. At the latest on Monday!
Hugz…Now, Clean Up, You hear!?

Hi Ponn!
Thanks for linking back to my blog. I’m glad you think it’s interesting how I’m trying to involve my readers more!
Keep up the great blogging.
My pleasure David.
I’m learning from the best, as you generate great conversations at your blog.

I laughed out loud! I am literally sitting here cleaning out my email inbox (I’m down from 573 to 64 left!) And I have spent the weekend shredding old documents, cleaning out files, and last week I spent extra time meeting with our accountants, and legal staff just to make sure that we’ve got everything in line how it should be — Spring Cleaning to the MAX! Your post was perfect! Welcome to TodaysMama.com by the way!
Rachael
You’re SO funny! Now, you got me laughing hard ov’r here!
So, here’s my update: I didn’t touch #1…Yucko
Got my #9 mostly done. I saw one more GA tutorial, and that was enough for my tiny little brain to digest on one Sunday.
Hah…did all the document shredding and files in time for taxes too. My desk was decent ’til hubby decided to use my office today…now, he’s gone and I’m getting rid of rulers, exacto-knives, and super-glue…go figure
BTW, SO happy to be apart of TodaysMama.com. Thanks for the welcome
I’m going to have to find one of those metal signs to hang on the wall in my office, great post, thanks
Hi Sara!
Great username…hee hee
Aww…I just ran over to your blog and have to say “Nay, its a *Hysterical* username!
Girl, we have tons to talk about. My brain disorder is called Arnold Chiari Malformation Type1.
As for the sign: I can not take credit for its coolness. I found it in flickr.com
Stick around, ya hear!?
