Changing the World: Part 1 How we can write/blog together.

Liz Strauss of Successful-Blog.com again shares a very timely and thought-provoking post, entitled Change the World. She shared the experiences of Ariel, a Romanian student who was expelled for blogging. [Steli gives more details how you can help spread the news in this post.]
Liz concludes,
If we know what we’ve got, we will see what we see. Then maybe we can find a way to start fixing things that are broken.
We can change the world - just like that.
So, I’m asking you “How Are You Changing the World?
I’m not professing to have all the answers, but I have a dire need to share my 2-cents on this subject…well, make it a nickel. So, please hear me out on this one, OKay!?
Ways I believe I can change this world–and empower you to do the same (hopefully).
1. Write/Blog.
I’ve been journaling since I was 9 years-old, became published in college, have a prolific CV (curriculum vitae) including a best-selling book, and much more.
But, none of that means anything to me because, the art and craft of writing is my own therapy and personal tool to keep me in check.
Presently battling partial paralysis, I remember the horror I faced not being able to type or write for 11 months last year. It was downright depressing! (This is the very first-time I’m publicly sharing this, as I personally hid this from many–practically all–of my family, friends and colleagues).
I hate the term “depression” and fought all my doctors, family and friends with such a diagnosis. Undoubtedly, I had no written outlet, that I was so accustomed to my entire life. Geez…the Women’s Empowerment Queen depressed, no way!?
Everyone assured me it wouldn’t be “human” not to be depressed in my situation. Accustomed to aerobics/jogging 5 days a week, working 40-60 hours/week, actively involved in the community, homeschool community, religious community…had a great marriage, happy, healthy daughters…always laughing and empowering everyone.
Then, bang…car accident, physical therapy, brain disorder, loss of sensations in your hands and feet, one leg started to atrophy, and I was skinnier then ever…blah, blah…I couldn’t dare let myself be ’sad’, let alone “depressed” over my physcial and mental deterioration…after all I had strong faith, and I was alive!
Convinced I wasn’t depressed, anxiety overcame me and my symptoms got worse because I wouldn’t seek necessary help. Finally succumbing to losing a lot of myself I finally starting giving in…and sought help. During which time, I saw some positive change, but after 6-months…decided to take things into my Own Hands–literally!
So, I decided to fight my symptoms, face my pain, I’ve never turned back and on January 19, 2007! I picked up a pen, started writing, then ventured back online to give the keyboard a little tinkering!
I knew I could never stop writing again! And, I haven’t. Not necessarily for others…but mostly for me. And, in light of Ariel’s present situation, I have to share that I believe Writing is an Expression of the Written Word, as shared in a poem I dictated during my 11 months without a pen.
So, to those who have no means or reasons NOT to write…I dare you to think again. Share your voice and let the world hear your call!
2. Write together and share this journey of life together!
More empowered than ever, I shared on January 20, 2007 that I need your help. I thank and applaud your support, and as that we walk together and share our stories together. I continue to ask you to do the same. Whatever your cause is…let’s write together.
3. Dream Together…And Work to Achieve Them Together!
I honestly don’t think any of my dreams are unreachable. I just updated my Dream Meme post and ask that you participate in making your dreams public. Even if you’re not on my tag-list, write your Dream post, follow the directions, then comment below with your post URL, and I’ll list you. This way we can keep one another accountable ‘virtually’
In my next post, I’ll share how EmpowerWomenNow.com is trying to Change The World, as an example to follow, a community you can be proud to be apart of, and a reason to advocate Empowering Women around the world!
