Chills just ran up my spine as I saw this video clip, Anita Miller a 2-year old toddler, calling 911 with only the words ‘Momma Owie’ 3-times for the Emergency call center to track the call and get over to save her mom after a migraine caused Momma to pass-out!

Since it was tracked on Yahoo News, I couldn’t copy & paste the headline since they only spliced the video clip, so I ran a search “abc news 2 year old calls 911″ and found, this other startling story in which a 5-year-old called 911 after witnessing both her mother and father being shot!

Have you taught your children to call 911? Yet? Ever? What were their ages?

The reason I ask these questions are because my girls are 7, 6 & 4 years young…and WOW a 2-year-old…with a limited vocabulary!?

Anyways, after my hospitalization in July, my 6 year-old called 911 twice the week I returned.

Here’s came more from fear that she never wanted to see her Mama ever come close to “dying” as she explained.

For 3 weeks, my girls saw me passing-out at home, out in our yard…and thankfully at our local grocery store & post office, both times everyone knew us so well–that we were more than taken care of.

Well, the day before my hospitalization, I actually finally lost conciousness…causing my neurosurgeon to rush me to the ER to emergency CT Scans, tests, etc.

Lonnnggg story short–my girls witnessed everything! Please don’t ask how, why…it’s a loonnnggg story…that nearly 3 months later I’m just coming to share the “facts” in and of itself.

Anyways, they saw them putting in the IV, brain monitors, heart monitors (just in case cardiac arrest due to the meds), and lung monitors on both sides of my body. Ready to give their “hello” after waiting “away” from me…I started to have seizures, tears (even with me forcing myself so hard to hold them back) were rushing down my face and 3 nurses nearly plow over my 3 tiny little girls to take care of the machines, medications and physically-hold down my body.

I fear they tried hard to take my girls away, and I’ll never forget the grinding of my 7-year old’s teeth, and 1 huge tear fall-down saying “Mama, I will NOT let you die!”

Upon my homecoming…the 1st thing my 6 year-old said was “Mama, God answered my prayers: You came home alive to Me!”.

Every single night my 7-year old would end her prayers “Oh God, please let Mama live to the morning. Let her live to be My Mama”.

Every morning, my 6-year old ran to my bed “Mama, God did it again! He answered my prayers. He wants You to be My Mama”.

While going to therapy only once a month, to “deal” with my disability; I went weekly for the next 6-weeks. I was dealing have dealt with my “mama guilt”; when in the 5th-half week, my 6-year old stopped waking up to these words.

I know our annoucement to my family back East, the anticipation of the girls helped with their healing and acceptance…my acceptance!

So, as for our two 911 calls. Both my MDs and our girls’ MDs applaud our 6 year-old’s efforts. The 1st time only a police came, since I didn’t even know she called & the phone was off the hook. I explained what happened to us that week, and the police kindly applauded her, yet shared the severity of what a true emergency was is.

The 2nd call…again, the phone went off the hook, they had on-record this was a 2nd call that week; so the police, fire man and medic came!

We all sat down on the patio and had a very nice 911-emergency talk. We decided that my girls will do a “Mama touch-test” when I pass-out, black-out…to see if I REALLY need help.

BTW, our phones stink. You can’t pause when dialing, so calling 911 is much easier than calling Baba’s cell phone. We figured this out the hard interesting way.

When, the extra kind, empathetic public workers left our patio, and we walked into our home, I changed the rule to “Mama’s Kick-Test”

Gotta share my humor whenever possible.

If these stories don’t give you enough reason to teach your babies to call 911 now, I don’t know what will. But, in Safety Town (free public safety summer week course before Kindergarten) they will teach your children for you!
